I think you never really tried a modern Unix shell like zsh, tcsh or bash. Otherwise I cannot understand why you are saying this.

a modern Unix shell like zsh, tcsh or bash. All so good that there are only 2 alternatives (except sh & csh & fish & ...) to fix the bad bits. Examine what is said, not who speaks -- Silence betokens consent -- Love the truth but pardon error. "Science is about questioning the status quo. Questioning authority".
