Just a guess, it seems to be the only string
with spaces included in the CSV string.

Bingo. I found a description with no spaces and indeed there are no quotes. How do I turn off this behavior? kd	[reply]

You can turn off the quotes as I described in my previous post, but I sincerely doubt if that is wise, as you're breaking with standards: `my $csv = Text::CSV_XS->new ({ quote_char => undef });` And having no quote character might break any standard-compliant parsers.
