Possibly not directly useful, but... for something Perl and shelly and, as Monty Python would observe, completely different, you might want to look at the Zoidberg shell.

    That would definitely be completely different. :-D I did look at Zoidberg briefly, but it's more of a Perl shell, which is more than what I really need. There are a couple of other options in that camp as well (although I can't recall any names ATM), but I was mainly concentrating on those that were mostly "hollow", so to speak, waiting for me to fill in the creamy center. :)
