pascaldee has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

There are a few country TLD (top level domains) which do not provide a whois interface, but instead just provide web-based one. On the other hand, an application which we use only supports whois for querying domains. I'm thinking of writing a dead-simple whois server wrapper for it to support querying said TLDs.

Any ideas/pointers on starters when doing this in Perl (like a base whois server class, which for SMTP several can be found on CPAN)?

    Are you sure? Name one.

    http://wp-whois-proxy.sourceforge.net/

      .ph and .id for example.
