To answer your question with another question, do you currently have any Perl code for interacting with Excel? Using Win32::OLE and Excel - Tips and Tricks from the tutorials section of this site is a good reference point, as is Using OLE with Perl, which explains some concepts you may need to be aware of.

Have a look at those resources and if you have any problems with your code, post it here and we will try to help.
