Try Recently Active Threads rather than Newest Nodes. Rat shows the following summary information that you may find helps:

+/-Legend

Title [^1](AC:3/9/7)+/- [author]

Means: You "^"=up- or "v"=down-voted, "1"=reputation; "AC" from ( Front-paged, Approved, Unapproved, Considered, or link to Parent or Root ); Replies: "3" direct, "9" descendents, "7" recent, "+/-" shows/hides(uses javascript)
