Now, perhaps I'm just insane but I was wondering if this had happened to anyone else here...

Since comming to Perl Monks, I've grown quite fond the of the ++/-- voting system. I think it works wonderfully well and it's very natural and easy to understand. Actually, I think I've grown too fond of it.

Lately, as I go through my Real Life(tm) in the Real World(tm), I've found myself wanting to ++ or -- things I see, hear, and do. Everywhere I look I think, "Oh, that's a pretty picture. I'll ++ it," or, "That was a really dumb thing I just did. I bet everyone's gonna -- it," or even, "That was a really funny commercial! Solid ++!".

Several times I've even found myself almost exclaim "++" out loud. And on other web sites, I've found myself searching (in vain) for the ++/-- buttons. I'll follow several links looking for them before I realize what I'm doing.

I think I need help. (Is there a Perl Monks Anonymous program?)

Ah, yes. The 13th sign of a PMA.

footpad shakes his head sadly and then wonders where those action figures ended up.

Yep, I've wanted to ++ good jokes or smart pieces of code.. but if you were to say it aloud, what would you say?

    • plusplus
    • increment
I don't use --, I rarely see a reason to, far better to comment, but then I'm just a woolly liberal I guess.

Yeah, I actually almost never --, myself. I just thought I should put it in so I didn't seem prejudice against --. :-)

      Oh, and I say "plusplus".
