Help: Geocoding with Microsoft Visual Earth

lihao has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Dear monks:

I have a need to retrive the Latitude and Longitude of any given US address and then input them into code for Microsoft Visual Earth.. I did some research on Geocoding, and found it not hard with Perl, Geocoder.us and TIGER/link database source.. while my co-workers need exact data source from Microsoft Visual Earth, I have no clue with M$ programming languages. I am very new to Geocoding stuff, and hope to know how our Perl guys handle M$ Visual Earth maps or any idea/links to get to a fast solution with Perl.

If you Google for "geocoding virtual earth site:microsoft.com" you will get quite a lot of hits... If you are going to use Microsoft Virtual Earth, it can do the geocoding for you; see the MSDN article on Getting a Precise Location in Virtual Earth. You can also use MapPoint Web Service to do the geocoding and display the results in Virtual Earth, see MSDN's article on Precise Geocoding with MapPoint Web Service and Virtual Earth.	[reply]

If you are going to use Microsoft Virtual Earth, it can do the geocoding for you; see the MSDN article on Getting a Precise Location in Virtual Earth.
