    Show us your program (in <code>...</code> tags please).

    It's impossible to tell what went wrong unless you tell us exactly what you did, including all program code.

    500 is an internal server error ... so there was either an issue with search.cpan.org (very unlikely) or you're not showing us the rest of the URL you're sending - you could quite possibly be sending it parameters that are making cpan.org barf.
