Things get trickier if you have parameters after the file, or even anchors - you could get lazy and use Dot Star:

/\/(\w+\.\w+)((\?|#|\/).*)?$/;
[download]

But I am sure there is a better way , japhy's reference to URI is probably the best - explore!
