The "ajax popup" to which you keep referring is a modal dialog (or sometimes modal popup or popin). The "modal" means it's in the page and blocks other interaction. Unadorned, the term "popup" means its own window. Feel free to correct me again but have the courtesy to sign-in so I never see it.
