in reply to NtC / Nodes in both SoPW and Q&A

I've requested this feature before.

BTW, Categorized Qs and As can't go to Nodes to Consider. They are handled by QandAEditors instead.

In future, if there is a question in both Seekers of Perl Wisdom and Categorized Questions and Answers, then everyone please don't submit the SoPW one to Nodes to Conider for deletion. Let the QandAEditors delete the Cat Q+A one instead.

Also, don't be confused by questions that get posted to Cat Q+A and then get moved to SoPW because they aren't the type of question that belongs in Cat Q+A. (This moving can only be done by QandAEditors and is quite different than the moving between most of the other sections that can be done by higher monks and editors.)

We are fast approaching a "too many chiefs" situation. Furthermore, it would appear that the new friars revel in their new found abilities (I know that I was wont to make a few opportunities to do so). Along with the fact that not everymonk has fully delved into the many facets that make up the monastery, a problem exists that allows friars+ to not realize that the people who can enact the solution are othermonks who have <gasp> even more powers than they.

Complaint after complaint has been posted that it's too easy to assume these powers (Why not force users to read the FAQ? Why not force them to read some other document before assuming new powers? Why don't you spell out the intentions of NtC on that page? Why don't you put an extra step into Considering a Node? ...) But, since each and every time it occurs, a new node is created to cover the same ground, the problem should seem obvious: Nobody's going to read the FAQ because they don't think they're the problem that is addressed in the latest Meditation or Discussion. It's easy to think that you are part of the solution and not the problem. You're an intelligent person, there's no way you can be as stupid as the person being discussed in that last complaint. You know the difference between a bad SoPW, a misplaced Q&A, and you know that your powers of divining this information are absolute and incorruptible.

In other words, it's easy to assume powers because there's no real responsibility associated. You're a friar+, so you've already proven your rep in the monastery. There's no penalty for Considering Nodes that ultimately get kept, and there's no penalty for taking actions that others should have done instead. So as a friar+, it is your God-given right to consider nodes all the live-long day.

    ALL HAIL BRAK!!!
