Those are both great suggestions, but my ultimate goal is to submit files to this server on a weekly basis. Maybe I should look into a different SFTP module.

Use scp and ssh keys. That's exactly what they're for.	[reply]

zentara's reply did suggest that you use a different SFTP module. Net::SSH2 has Net::SSH2::SFTP.	[reply]

Try using Net::SFTP::Foreign, it provides a module wrapper Net::SFTP::Foreign::Compat to make it compatible with Net::SFTP.	[reply]
