FYI (where Y=y'all), you can only move root nodes between the following sections:

• Seekers of Perl Wisdom
• Meditaions
• Perl Monks Discussions
• Craft
• Obfuscated Code
• Cool Uses for Perl
• Perl Poetry

All Friars and highers can do this before the node has been approved for its section (don't try to move and approve in the same step or only the approval will happen). Janitors can do this whenever.

The other sections:

• Categorized Questions and Answers
• Snippets
• Code
• Library
• Reviews
• Tutorial
• etc.

don't follow the same simple schema as those first sections so there is no general moving between them. But real soon now® editors will be able to move notes (a.k.a. replies) willy-nilly (as soon as the API for this gets exposed).

There is also a special case for converting a Categorized Question into a Seeker of Perl Wisdom (and you can't go in the other direction).
