boby has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

hi monks, Can anyone explain me the meaning for the following code. 
perl -pi.bak -e 's/words/word/g' bugbuster1.pl

Actually i had understood the meaning for the above code but i need to know what does the .bak stands for in that code. thanks in advance...

    See perlrun about the -i switch. Basically it leaves a backup file.
