No I didn't know that. Should be pretty easy to filter out, I'd imagine. The underlying algorithm isn't mine, so I can't say for sure why that might happen. My guess would be very small edges collapsing to a zero-width edge. By producing squares you might very well have constructed a worst-case scenario for the algorithm.
