I tried using fileevent command and it didn't work on Win32 and you were right about the handle. Thanks.
I'm still working on the timer event to see if I could get around the problem. And hmm having error while trying to open the socket.

See Re^2: Perl/Tk App and Interprocess Communication for setting up a timer on a filehandle. You may need to use sysread instead of <> on the filehandle. I wish I had windows going so I could test, but no. :-( I'm not really a human, but I play one on earth CandyGram for Mongo	[reply]

Thanks for all the suggestions. Your solution works just fine. But I think I'm going to adopt the POE framework for this project. I create one POE session to read an input and another one to integrate that input to my Tk Canvas. I cannot give more details because I'm still learning how to set up POE environment. But It seems to be a really promising way. You don't need to know in the low level how to corporate different tasks in the same time, POE takes care of that for you. Cheers,	[reply]
