thabenksta has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Lately I have been finding myself with nothing to do. I really want to write some programs, but I just can't think of anything usefull that hasn't allready been done. I also would like to help out in something that actually makes a difference. Not just something that I will never look at again after finished.

So my question is, are there sites or forums out there that need some programming help? A place that posts their needs and programmers can post back their code?

You could always try SourceForge and see if there are any Perl projects that are "recruiting". By using CVS and supplying patches, or other contributions, you can code large or small, as it suits your style.

Additionally, other programs are always in need of a little utility or config tool which would be really handy but nobody has bothered to write because they are busy with other things. Even a one-liner, if useful, could be adopted into the distribution. You never know.
