A while ago I posted The New York Times Perl Profiler, over lunch I read a recent post by Tim Bunce** titled NYTProf v2 - A major advance in perl profilers.

Tim gives some background into the development of Devel::NYTProf, an example profiling perlcritic and links to video footage of a talk on this subject.

The background story is also available should you be interested to read it.

Update: ** If Tim has a perlmonks user ID I have no idea what it is. Thanks moritz

This module is just phenomenal! Profilers have always been a bit unfriendly, and for the first time, it was easy to set up, and produced really meaningful, easy to understand results.
