That's it. %ENV contains the environment for your process and for children processes. See perlvar for more details

I {changed directory, modified my environment} in a perl script. How come the change disappeared when I exited the script? How do I get my changes to be visible?	[reply]

Use a shell script and, depending on whether you're running csh (some do;-) or a variant on the Bourne shell, either `source file` or `. file`. HTH , At last, a user level that overstates my experience :-))	[reply] [d/l] [select]
