Error Message When Installing ActivePerl 5.10.01001: "Don't Know How To Copy:c:windows.000\temp\ppm-4QcXxf/Email-Address1.888/blib/html/?|???U??

intelligentdesign has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I am attempting to install ActivePerl 5.10.0.1001 on Windows ME. I receive this error: "PerlSE.dll failed to register". I clicked "Ignore" and continued with the installation. Use of my script requires Email-Address-1.888. When attempting to use the Perl Package Manager to install it, I received this error: ERROR: Don't know how to copy C:\WINDOWS.000\Temp\ppm-4qcXxf/Email-Address1.888/blib/html/?|???U?? In fact, I get this error when attempting to install any module. My script will not run correctly. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you read the Product documentation? It does not look like Windows ME is supported, also I would not run Windows ME on any of my systems if you paid me. Martin	[reply]

I don't think you can install AP 5.10 on Win ME. From the site of ActiveState, the requirements for this version are: x86 or x64 architecture Windows 2000, XP or Vista: No additional requirements. I tried to install ActivePerl on a Win 98 SE box and it gave me a hell of problems. And it was four years ago, don't remember the version. Were you able to install earlier versions of Perl on ME without problem?	[reply]
