I couldn't agree more about what a resource we have. I've learned more from this site about coding in perl in a couple of months than I thought I could.

As a contrast, I have the unfortunate responsibility of managing a website built in Lotus Domino. The Lotus.com website is horrible (just try finding something by searching. Good luck!), the Lotus support is non-existent, and Lotus is completely oblivious to fixing bugs unless you're paying major $ for a support contract.

I'm in the process of figuring out the best way to move this Domino site into a mySQL/perl structure because I'm sick of Lotus, the bugs Domino has (and the inability to generate work-arounds in many cases), and the lack of a truly good community (yes I know about notes.net).

A couple of reasons I'm so jazzed to move this site into perl/mySQL are:

• Infinite possibilities in perl for building dynamic websites,
• It's hard for me to pay money for an inferior product,
• and this site. I know if there's something I need/want to accomplish, I'll have backup if I need it.
