In other words, there are three excellent and several dozen mediocre date modules on CPAN. CPAN is your friend. Look there first and you will find pretty much most of what you'd ever need.
My criteria for good software:
  1. Does it work?
  2. Can someone else come in, make a change, and be reasonably certain no bugs were introduced?
