DrWhy has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

We have a SOAP API in our company's server product that uses (sends and receives) DIME attachments to transport large chunks of data between SOAP server and client. We also have a SOAP::Lite-based client library for use in testing the parts of the API that do not involve DIME. I'd really like to be able to add the ability for this client library to interact with the DIME-using elements of the API. I've looked a little bit at DIME::Tools, but haven't seen an obvious way to put it together with SOAP::Lite to accomplish the goal of constructing and sending SOAP messages with DIME attachments.

So I'm wondering if any of you monks out there have had some experience doing this or ideas about how I might be able to proceed with implementing SOAP with DIME attachment support in Perl?

Thanks for any approaches/ideas you can provide.

To be a little more clear, the SOAP::Lite package now contains DIME support in the form of SOAP::Lite::Packager::DIME. It also contains a nearly identical package SOAP::Packager::DIME. I'm not sure what the difference between the two is.
