This is a 2.4.4 pre-release for testing - and it will probably attract the attention of a fair number of CPAN Testers. But there's always room for some additional testing, so anyone here who would like to give it a try is encouraged to do so.

In particular (but by no means exclusively), I'm interested to hear of any problems encountered when building it on Win32. It should build straight out of the box for 5.8.0-5.10.0 for both ActivePerl (nmake/dmake x MinGW/MSVC) and Strawberry Perl. But there's a few permutations involved there, and I don't get to test all of them.

If any Strawberry Perl users feel like going to the trouble of adding the g77 fortran compiler to the MinGW that was installed as part of Strawberry, and then installing ExtUtils::F77, they should then automatically get to build/test an enhanced PDL that contains additional (namely, slatec and minuit) functionality. Anyone who has installed MinGW independently probably already has g77, so it should be just a matter of installing ExtUtils::F77 in order to access that additional functionality.

Similarly for non-Win32 users, pre-installing ExtUtils::F77 will lead to the building/testing of those additional PDL elements.

Afterthought: Perhaps I should mention where you can get it:

http://search.cpan.org/~chm/PDL-2.4.3_01/

It may not yet have reached all mirrors.

Cheers,
Rob

search.cpan.org marks every PDL release as "UNAUTHORIZED", have you looked into that?
search.cpan.org marks every PDL release as "UNAUTHORIZED"

I *think* that's under control (but I'll make some enquiries ... thanks for drawing it to my attention). The fact that 2.4.3_01 is "UNAUTHORIZED" is not, of itself, a concern. I suspect that might happen because it's been uploaded to Chris Marshall's account. When 2.4.4 is released, it will (presumably) be uploaded to Christian Soeller's account - and hopefully won't be slammed with the "UNAUTHORIZED" tag that 2.4.3 got lumbered with. We probably won't know for sure until 2.4.4 gets uploaded.

Actually, there is no current PDL developer with sufficient permissions for a clean upload to PAUSE.

One of the goals for this upload was to diagnose any remaining permissions needed for PDL maintenance and to coordinate them so that future releases can happen cleanly without a lot of work to sort out permissions.

We have been working to collect maintainer permissions for PDL maintainers that do not wish to participate actively in development. For the purposes of module permissions, that is basically that they keep up with the pdl-developer's list and are responsive to the need to adjust module permissions for release management.

There are only a few remaining authors to work with on this issue and we plan to get their permissions fully coordinated by the formal PDL-2.4.4 release.

Afterward, we will be documenting the process and suggestions for multi-author maintainance for some sort of FAQ ref for all perl module authors.

hmm, strawberryperl, no f77 (nothing custom), some kind of error
Could you stick the output between <c> and </c> tags ? (To make it more easily readable.)

Do you know what happened to the rest of the output ? (It just seems to stop ...)

Update: Corion informs me that you've probably hit the 64k post limit. Best if you could instead give us (say) the last 30 lines of output.

      Cheers,
      Rob
