in reply to File::Monitor module for ftp?

See Monitoring an FTP upload directory for ideas. I think you can forget about remotely monitoring in combination with the pinging. Other monks correct me if I'm wrong.

    A casual reading of FTP would confirm that you're right (FTP was never designed for that kind of thing).
