I am not very keen on this idea for all the reasons mentioned on the thread. But if it does gain any traction, could it at least be named something that reminds me of a monastery. "water-cooler" has unpleasant associations with work and the real world.

    It's still a bad idea though. If you want to talk about random stuff like carpentry, there are a million other places to do it, all of which have more skilled - and hence more helpful - user communities.

      Yes I am a significant user of at least two forums and several others occaisionally. Some monasteries have distillaries rather than breweries. I am not sure which is better in the real world, but I much prefer the idea of people distilling truth together than the idea of somebody "brewing".
