in thread spoiler tag "abuse"

I still think that using spoiler tags merely to shield readers' eyes from the horror of verbose code is not in line with the FFs' intent, current site doco not withstanding, and actually causes the readers more inconvenience than it purports to allay.

What a croc!

The whole reason for this thread is because one person is all a lather, because it is inconvenient to him to see that verbose code. But, it is somehow okay for everyone else to suffer that inconvenience, so long as he doesn't. And I'm the one showing hubris?

    Howdy!

One person raised the issue. It Does Not Follow that no one else cares about the matter. Perhaps they don't have anything to add, so they simply say nothing. Just to be clear, I find the complaint to have merit (the one about tag misuse). Clearly, from this thread, I'm not alone. That's rather more than "one person"; you don't get a free pass to dismiss the concern that way.

The bottom line is that you *did* use spoiler tags for other than their intended purpose. That intent can be seen as patronizing -- "protecting" us from something "inconvenient".

...so, I decide to not remain silent, as that would encourage you to presume my consent in matters where you would be completely mistaken.

Well I don't know who's in a lather about what, and I try to stay out of the business of saying who has hubris.
