Just thought I would pass this along. This is originally by Elthek on #perl (unless he got it from somewhere else :)..
Of course, you can put anything before the pipe to perl.
ls --help | perl -pe '$i=$.;s//\e[3@{[$i++%7+1]};1m/g'
