Thanks, it worked, by setting this 'fc -e vi' it just gives the vi editor support in a separate vim window, it is also nice, but one more doubt, is it possible to get that vi feature on the command line itself(bash actually have this feature). (I believe that I am not expecting too much of this perl shell, but just curious to know whether it is possible, because it will definitely increase my speed in working with command line editing interface).

The most expected 'vi' mode in my case; along with the power of perl comes with the 'zoidberg' perl shell. it can be found here
