andimichelle has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I am very new to CGI and Perl writing. Although I can write html code well, this is totally different. I would like to know, as I have a Vista computer, which is the best version of Apache to download and where can I get it?

    Ask apache.org
      No. Ask Winnetou!

    Go for Apache 2.2.11:-
    http://httpd.apache.org/download.cgi

Although if you have any version of Vista that is above Home Premium you'll have a copy of IIS7 you can enable and use.

I tend to use IIS7 on port 80, and install Apache on port 8080.

What are you requirements for Apache?
Its quite difficult to suggest a version, other than the current one, if we do not know any of your requirements.
I would suggest reading the feature lists for the different releases of Apache.
    Apache 2.2
    Apache 2.0
    Apache 1.3

    UPDATE
You can ignore 1.3, if you are indeed running this in Windows, as it is *nix only.

I'd say the best one would be which ever one you are able to install!

I can't speak about how well Apache installs under Windows now but I had a heck of a time with 1.3 and 2.0 ages ago. I have always had great luck with XAMPP though.
