Indeed, printing the version of DBD::Oracle failed due to the missing environment. Thanks for the hint. And here are, finally, the results of your csh script:

• Perl 5.6.1 uses version 1.15 of DBD::Oracle while
• Perl 5.8.6 uses version 1.20.

A little but significant difference?
