Petitioning the gods to reset your XP is not unprecedented. While I vaguely remember such conversations in the CB - it is anecdotal evidence at best. I wasn't able to find anything in Super Search but you might find Proposal: Option to Decline XP from voting interesting. In any event, I wouldn't put too much stock in it - see also The Role of XP in PerlMonks.
