No, it's typical for scientists how always have to explain why the state should spend money for their projects, so the have to tell the public from time to time that there are still things that they don't understand, and they need more time and money to improve their understanding.

Update: most scientists never tell you that they have fully understood a topic, unless it's one that's not related to nature.

I agree with you on the money asking scientist. I work in such a place myself;-) so the have to tell the public from time to time that there are still things that they don't understand There are things they "still" don't understand and there will always be.	[reply]

There are things they "still" don't understand and there will always be. Sure, but it's not obvious that the problems to which the scientists don't have a solution are even understandable to non-scientists.	[reply]
