Quick checks:
Check you are only loading the modules you really need.
Use scope correctly, i.e. don't keep variables in scope longer than necessary. Avoid globals (you are using strict, I hope).

Avoid globals (you are using strict, I hope). You are aware that strict doesn't prevent you from having globals, aren't you? Declaring all your variables at the beginning of the program strict doesn't object to in the least. All it cares about is whether there's a 'my' (or a fully qualified path). It doesn't care about narrow scope. strict is not the silver bullet many people think it is.	[reply]
