in thread is a WWW::Mechanize bug or my ignorance?

The spec says value is optional for all input type except radio and checkbox. Sending is not an error, or non-conformance.

All that says is that specifying a value is not forbidden. I don't deny that. It's not specifying a value that wrong, it's specifying a value of "thisvalue" (or anything else) for image buttons.

The value for image buttons is a coordianate, but "thisvalue" is a not a coordinate. In fact, there's is no syntax to allow you to specify a coordinate, so there is no valid value you can specify for it.

      Thats nonsense.foo.x=1;foo.y=2;foo=thisvalue

The value must be a coordinate, relative to a particular image's size, with the extra semantic that it must be the last value selected and initiates form submission.

        "thisvalue" is no such thing.
