coldlake has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I have a unique problem where the file system in linux where perl is installed is readonly and cannot install XMLSimple. Is there a way I can pass the path to perl so that this can get picked up without failing to complie? I tried adding to .bash_profile seems to fail.

Look thru the tutorials here on How to install Modules. You probably are not root. Only root can install to /usr....but this isn't a site on how to run as a linux user. You can install to your home directory. It's all described in the docs. They are already written, so why should I rewrite it here? :-)
