HTML::Template Still Supported?

rhumbliner has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

I'm a newbie to HTML::Template and after reading the documentation and tutorial on CPAN I still had some unanswered questions so I decided to read the mail list archives. Unfortunately all the mail list links in the CPAN documentation are defunct.

Is HTML::Template still supported and active? If not, has it been superceded by something else? Where is the best place to find info on this?

Supported - yes, I think so. When I get bug reports I fix them. Active - not especially. I consider the module feature complete, so most of the action is in replacement modules like HTML::Template::Pro and HTML::Template::Compiled. HTML::Template is my templating environment of choice, in which I spend hours a day. If you are going to stick with H::T, don't overlook it's great compatibility with CGI::Application. There is a tutorial here at the Monastery that will give you an idea of how the two work together (I would link you to it, but then that would be shameless promotion). I use it every day also. For my needs, it's a perfect solution. Many people prefer Template Toolkit. It's also very powerful. Become familiar with both then choose the right tool for the job.	[reply]
