As for when it started, try asking Super Search for the oldest nodes.

And yes, like others say, paco has sparked this site: he's asked a perl question on an empty internet site and never came back but the question was so good the site founders has built a whole perl support site around it. This is evidenced by that vroom and nate have a higher homenode id (and later joining date) than paco.

      Oh no. I was happy not knowing. I'll try really hard to forget. Though I sort of supposed his homenode image was added later by the gods. (By the way, could we get the legs of NodeReaper back, or will he always be truncated at 64K?)

        The legs of the node reaper are in the borg's belly which is why you can't see them.
