just defined($help) will suffice
why you reference a scalar $help to $test, any reasons for that?.

That sounds like you could use a hash instead. Is there a good reason why that's not possible?	[reply]

I am thinking of using a hash method. I'm not used to hashes so never see them as the answer straight away. Ahh well, progress progress progress :-)	[reply]
