ctl has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

In the Opcode manpage, it states that, "It's probable that a specific memory limit mechanism will be added to perl in the near future." Has anything like this been done? Does anyone know if anyone is working on this? Thanks. -Chris

    Not sure about the Perl end of things, but if you're on *nix, you can use the ulimit -m command or the /etc/security/limits.conf file (assuming you're using PAM) to some effect.

    The Opcode manpage in perl-5.7.1 still has the same wording, from which I'd deduce that nothing's changed in this regard.

    I don't know if anyone's working on it or not; the p5p archive is a good place to start looking.
