If as previously suggested you want to OCR an image see ocr, which uses Tesseract and ImageMagick. Also see How do I post a question effectively? Martin	[reply]

Since your question is vague it is open to interpretation. To me it sounds as though you want to extract text from an image - which is OCR. For Perl OCR modules search CPAN: OCR Reading the contents of the image file would be `perl -pe "" imagefilename` [download] which, I am sure, is no help to you at all. Since OCR is also always also a security related topic you may want to provide a brief motivation for your question. Would you be talking about text that you took a picture of, or text that is embedded into the information of the file (the exif details)? The more information you can provide, the better answer you will get :)	[reply]
