in reply to Creating a reference to a scalar
Read about references in perlreftut and perlref. Use that search box in the upper left corner and Super Search at will.
Just to make a reference:
That's how it works with scalars. With arrays:$foo = 1; $fooref = \$foo; #a reference to $foo $foovalue = $$fooref; #de-reference $fooref
You see? Use the backslash for making the reference, and precede the reference-scalar with a $,@ or % (hash) to get the values.@bar=0..10; $barref = \@bar; @barvalue = @$barref;
Hope this helps,
Jeroen

Update: Unfortunately, perlreftut cannot be found
on this site, it is probably only found in the 5.6 distro.
Thx 2 stephen for pointing that out. New link to the pages
of Dominus.
