ATaylor has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Does a PERL program exist that can take a WORD document (Word 2000) and insta convert it to HTML? I know you can just save any Word document as HTML but I would rather not have the overhead of instantiating Word and saving as HTML automatically. Not sure if this problem has ever been tackled or possible given an extremely limited amount of time. I would be interested in hearing any information or opinions on this subject. Aaron Taylor

    I have not found any thing(for Linux) in perl that is intuitive. But I have found a C program that I use. It is at http://www.wvware.com/.

    I would like to hear if anyone else has done it with perl rather than have a system call.

      Thank you. I went ahead and downloaded it. This may help me. As it is I would really like to be able to do this in PERL. Definately this is a start though. Aaron
      They have ported WVware to Win32.

    A old ChOas's post pointed me to LAOLA (only perl4?)
    And I know iguane obtained good result with Win32::OLE(see his post
    Some people use OLE::Storage too...

    Anyway a Supersearch will give you a lot of answers.
