I started out at the Cold Spring Harbour Laboratories "Computing for Biology" course:

Very intense ( and a lot of fun ), but a really superb start in bioinformatics.
Their emphasis is not so much on "How to do X, Y, Z", but "How to find out how to do X, Y, Z"...Which will be much more valuable in the long term!

And I think you are still in time to apply!
