Forwarding and doing HTTP basic auth

Structed has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi wise monks, I'm really stuck here (maybe because I'm not a real perl guy). I need to directly forward a request to a given page to a completely different server and doing a covert HTTP Basic Auth. See HTTP::Proxy, Net::Proxy, Perlbal or mod_proxy. At least from your description it sounds to me that you might want a reverse proxy. But maybe you want WWW::Mechanize in conjuntion with a CGI program as a very limited proxy with higher navigational capacity instead.	[reply]
