in thread Using Tree::Simple with while loop and input file.

And what, exactly, do you see as the problem?

Ignoring all past answers leads to new questions going unanswered. The problem is that I don't think he wants that to happen.

Starting a new thread may be less than optimal, but who cares (besides you, that is)?

You are mistaken and putting words in my mouth. I don't care about the starting of new threads.

Chill (please).

What makes you think I'm not?

If you do not see an opportunity here to grovel for XP

A few more and I'll be able to buy a trip with them!

Please examine that sentence carefully, and pay special attention to the second word. Now consider that OP (at least by his statement) is trying things based on the earlier suggestions. That hardly constitutes ignoring all past answers. Quite the contrary, I think.

If your goal is really so noble, it would help if you spent a little more time explaining to the OP what your concern is.

You are mistaken and putting words in my mouth. I don't care about the starting of new threads.

    Your words:

...rather than ignoring them and starting from scratch in new threads.

    Seems clear to me.

What makes you think I'm not?

Maybe you are (chilled, that is). But the tone of your reply leaves a different impression. Consider your (inappropriate/erroneous) use of all noted above. Add to that the (inappropriate/erroneous) accusation about putting words in your mouth. Finally, the am-so-am-not tone of "What makes you think I'm not?" is a strong indication to the contrary.

    A few more ...

XP is just a number. Just because your XP number is bigger than most, doesn't mean that the rest of you is bigger than most.

I admire the apparent depth of your Perl knowledge. Please take a little more time with some of your nodes to explain motivation, especially when you are replying to a less experienced monk. Take a higher road. Be more like tilly and less like ...

Add to that the (inappropriate/erroneous) accusation about putting words in your mouth.

"Starting from scratch in new threads." doesn't mean the same thing as "starting new threads". It's the starting from scratch I have a problem with (as explained already), not the starting of new threads (also explained already).

I know what I said. It's right there in the clear. Stop saying I said something different. If you *understood* something different, say that, but don't put words in my mouth and try to prove I said something I didn't after the matter has been clarified.

I spent at least three hours answering him.

Just because your XP number is bigger than most, doesn't mean that the rest of you is bigger than most.

      Unfortunately, I am. I need a diet.

You're the only one who seems cares about my XP. I haven't looked at it in— I'm not sure, but I probably last checked when they added the new Monk levels.

You are correct. I understood them to mean the same thing. I am probably not the only one (perhaps I will suggest a poll for the Voting Booth on this). I still do not see what the problem is or why you are so exercised about starting from scratch in new threads.

Even more reason to chill. Getting all riled up (and the associated increase in adrenalin and other "stress hormones") just raises your blood pressure, which is not good for your heart.

What I said in the first place is if (that's a conditional, but since you are a PerlWizard you should understand how those work) you need to grovel for XP (note that I did not mention total XP here, but if you *understood* something different ...).

All I am really trying to do here is help you calm down. It may not be working. That is all I have to say. You may have the last word.
