      By emailing the list you have; the very same list the hackers have. Because some of the emails are no longer valid doesn't mean we throw our hands up.

      It troubles me that this is such a difficult problem. I continue to be asked, "How do I email a large list? What do we say? Why bother using hashed passwords- plaintext is fine!" I've addressed all of these. Am I really the only one that thinks this is a bungled attempt at protecting monks? It feels like I am the only one who really cares and wants to go the extra mile on this instead of just blaming the victim, hand-waving and declaring the idea of notifications NP hard.

        But... that means that it will be technically impossible to notify all users. Yet you'll continue to rail against what you yourself admit is an impossibility. Why not scream at the sun for failing to rise in the west while you're at it?
