student:If a post has merit, or needs a response,
although it is old and withered, like my hand, ought one
does one have a duty to respond.
teacher:Oh, bhikshus, I say that for every post in the
wilderness, none shall go unheard; though five million
kalpas may pass, it will be replied to.
student:But, teacher, tell us what merit is there in
responding to a post, unheard, where no one will seek ?
One's reputation will not increase ?
teacher:Oh, bhikshus, do not cling to reputation, it will
make you a hungry ghost.
