Not my area of expertise at all but can you check if mounting with nosuid? Don't know how relevant this is as I don't write SUID programmes.

    No, it's not. I guess my next question is how do I run a non-interactive install of suidperl from the 5.10.0 distribution? I don't really want to have to interactively install perl whenever I need SUID...
